An esteemed panel of judges took charge of the 2017 Drone Photography Contest and picked out four pretty amazing, category-specific winners.
The 4th annual Drone Photography Contest attracted “thousands of entries” which were submitted from around the globe by a host of talented professional photographers and amateur drone photo enthusiasts.
In 2017 it shouldn’t be a surprise that the entries of amateur enthusiast were indistinguishable from the pro’s . And I’ts probably something to do with the affordability and ever-increasing accessibility of drone hardware that explains how great pretty much every entry was this year – though prevalence alone does nothing to alleviate the instinctive “how did they do that?!” double take that occurs on photo-to-photo basis. Which is why dronestagr.am were understandably excited to showcase their winners, each neatly presented by category; people, nature, urban and creativity.
Alongside its host, calling the winners of this years competition, which is judged on “creativity and photographic quality” was a panel of experts that included National Geographic’s own Deputy Director Patrick Witty and Photo editor Jeff Heimsath as well as Emanuela Ascoli, Photo editor for National Geographic France.
