‘Tides’ is the work of Boston-based Ari Weinkle, who asked ‘how would typography behave underwater?’.
Through the use of Adobe’s creative suite and Maxon Cinema 4D, a digitally rendered tide is applied to a fragile, contemporary font. The force carries the strokes, which form each character, apart.
Watching the fittingly soundtracked final piece play out is utterly hypnotic – Each letter of the alphabet, from A to Z, collapsing and dissipating in stunning detail.
