17 Square Meters of Mirror, One Awesome Image

The photographer of ‘Impact’, a mind-bending cracked mirror lakeside image, documented the intensive pre and post-shoot process behind his creation.

‘I wanted to create an image where a lake is breaking up as a mirror. I wanted to make the effect look as realistic as possible’ says Prague-based photographer Erik Johansson, who bought 17 square meters of mirrors and took them to a lake along with a male model and a boat to achieve the effect. The result is an astonishingly intricate synergy of abstract thought, photography skills, and digital art proficiency.

In the behind the scenes video below, Johansson reveals the painstaking, multidisciplinary process that went into creating the image – covering everything from the by-hand inception stage to the intensive post editing Photoshop job.

You can read more about the project here and follow Erik Johansson’s work at Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
